Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed why he chooses not to block social media trolls, even though he frequently comes under heavy criticism and insults online.
Speaking in a recent interview, the award-winning singer said that blocking people who constantly attack him online would mean giving them the power to silence themselves from seeing his success, which is the exact opposite of what they desire.
According to him, trolls thrive on negativity, but rather than feed them, he prefers to allow them to keep watching his wins and progress.
“I don’t block anybody. Why should I block you? If I block you, you won’t see me. And that’s what you want,” Davido said.
He added that ignoring them while continuing to flourish in his career is the best response, noting that his achievements speak louder than the insults thrown at him.
Davido, who has one of the largest fan bases in Africa, is no stranger to online controversies. Yet, he maintains that staying focused on his music and family is more important than engaging trolls.
The “Unavailable” crooner also encouraged his fans not to let negativity from others derail their personal goals, stressing that success remains the best form of clapback.
