The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has urged his critics to study his political strategies instead of holding grudges, insisting that good leadership requires listening to advice and learning from experience.
Wike made the remarks during a “thank you” visit to Port Harcourt City Local Government Area on Saturday.
“Don’t hate us; learn from us. A bad leader is one who refuses to take advice. A good leader listens,” he said.
He described Port Harcourt as a vibrant metropolitan city, emphasizing that securing electoral victories in a community with diverse Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba populations reflects wide-ranging support.
He also highlighted the cooperation between the state’s two major political parties, insisting that nothing can derail their political agenda in Rivers State.
He further assured supporters that building lasting political structures requires patience, affirming that members of the Renewed Hope family remain united and resilient in their shared goals.
“If you supported us in 2023 and we come to say thank you, the next thing is to ask you to support us again in 2027,” he said.
He also described the joint efforts of parties to secure electoral victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a major milestone, urging other states to learn from the Rivers experience rather than criticize it.
Hon. Blessing Amadi, member representing Port Harcourt II Federal Constituency, praised Wike for his commitment to promoting women’s participation and advancement in politics.
She assured that women in the council would continue to back both the minister and President Tinubu.
Earlier, Port Harcourt City Local Government Chairman Allwell Ihunda thanked Wike for facilitating the smooth return of elected officials at the local government level, attributing the success to the credible conduct of the elections.
He also reaffirmed his support for Wike and President Tinubu as they prepare for the 2027 elections.
