The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed a fire incident at the old terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire told journalists on Monday that the emergency teams were immediately deployed to the scene to contain the situation and prevent further damage.
“We are aware of the outbreak and our emergency response teams are already on ground managing the situation,” Agbebire said.
“Our firefighting unit is actively working to curtail the spread of the fire. No casualties have been recorded,” he added.
Airport authorities have advised passengers and other airport users to remain calm as efforts continue to bring the situation under control and assess the extent of damage to the affected facility.
Further updates are expected as investigations into the cause of the fire commence.
