Yusuf Buhari has emerged victorious in the APC primary election for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency, polling an overwhelming 5,849 votes to secure the party’s ticket.
Yusuf , son of Nigeria’s late former President Muhammadu Buhari, defeated his closest rival, Hon. Auwal Lawal Daura, who polled just 21 votes in the exercise held ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The result has sparked widespread political reactions across Katsina State, with observers pointing to the wide margin as evidence of strong grassroots backing and the lingering influence of the Buhari political legacy in the region.
The primary was conducted under the platform of the All Progressives Congress as part of ongoing internal processes to select candidates for the forthcoming general elections.
With the outcome, Yusuf Buhari is expected to emerge formally as the party’s flag bearer for the constituency, pending ratification by party leadership.
Other aspirants in the contest, including Auwal Lawal Daura, suffered a heavy defeat in what was a one-sided contest.
