Police Rescue Kidnapped businessman In Aba

Policemen from the Aba Area Command have rescued a businessman (name withheld) from a gang of kidnappers at a village in Osisioma Ngwa local government area of Abia state.

The gang were said to have abducted the businessman at a barbing salon at Faulks road before taking him to their hideout.

Addressing journalists at his office, Police Area Commander, Alhaji Rabiu Dayi, said his men traced the kidnappers to their hideout to a village along the Enugu — Port Harcourt Expressway in Osisioma Ngwa local government and rescued the businessman unhurt.

He stated that after a fierce gun battle with the police, one of the kidnappers was shot dead while three of his members escaped with bullet wounds.

Pointblanknews.com gathered the village where the hideout is located is a stone throw from a military checkpoint on the Enugu “ Port Harcourt Expressway.

The Area Commander also disclosed items recovered from the kidnappers to include 3 mobile phones, 2 motorcycles and 2 AK 47 rifles with 49 rounds of live ammunition. Dayi said the kidnappers who operate in a white Hilux van with an Abuja vehicle registration number are responsible for most of the kidnapping incidents in Aba and beyond, also have people who monitor the movement of security agents and report to them.

This is why we have been calling to remind the people of Aba that the use of okada is still not allowed in Abia state because these kidnappers and their boys use it keep surveillance on the security agents. Villagers should be vigilant and cooperate with police.”  The Area Commander called on the residents of Aba to report suspected movements to the police, stressing that such information would be treated in strict confidence.
