Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has said that he is not ready to
quit the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, until he has consulted with
President Goodluck Jonathan.
Amaechi told the leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at a
reception organized at the Government House, Port Harcourt that he would
consult President Goodluck Jonathan before deciding on whether to dump the
ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or not.
The APC leaders include; General Muhammadu Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,
Chief BisiAkande Acting National chairman , AlhajiAminu Bello Masari,
Chief Tom Ikimi and Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Others are; Senator George
Akume, Senator Osita Izunaso, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Hajia Sa’adatu
Farouk.
The governor said apart from Jonathan, he would also consult political and
opinion leaders in the state and the South-South geo-political zones
before making up his mind and promise to give his reply to leaders of the
opposition party at a rally that would be held at the AdokiyeAmesiameka
Stadium in the state capital on a date yet to be fixed.
He said; “We are a group of seven governors. I am peculiar in that group
of seven because, the President comes from our zone. Is it not? I will get
up, I will consult our leaders. I will consult even you; you are very
important. I will consult the President; I will. He is from our zone,
don’t worry. We will consult all consultable.”
