Kogi speaker, deputy impeached for “incompetence”

Members of Kogi Sate House of Assembly have impeached the Speaker,
Momoh Jimoh, the Deputy Speaker, Aliyu Akuh, and the  Minority leader,
Hassan Bello, for “incompetence”

Jimoh is representing  Okene constituency, while Akuh and Bello are
representing Omala and Ajaokuta constituencies respectively in the
House.

17 out of the 25 members of the assembly effected the impeachment of
the three principal officers.

Motion for the impeachment was moved on the floor of the House by
Ukubile Ochijenu and seconded by Zakari Mohammed.

He said the 17 members unanimously agreed and signed the impeachment
document to remove the Speaker on grounds of alleged incompetency,
poor leadership style, betrayal of trust and inability to represent
them effectively, amongst others.

However, the members have Godwin Osiyi Ojo (Ogori Magongo
constituency) emerged the new speaker while John Abah (Ibaji
Constituency) was elected deputy speaker.
