The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) today detained ex presidential campaign spokesman, Femi Fani-Kayode, as he could not meet bail conditions, Pointblanknews.com has learnt.
Fani-Kayode was invited by the EFCC last friday to give say all he knows about the controversial campaign fund, that has gotten into hot water, a former minister of state for finance, Nenadi Usman, Olisah Metuh, Ex Imo Governor, Achike Udenwa, and ex NSA, Sambo Dasuki.
Few hours after the invitation was delivered, a detachment of officers of the Police Mobile Force, and operatives of the EFCC laide siege to his Aso Drive, Abuja home.
Fani-Kayode had cried out, querying why despite the fact that the anti-graft agency had delivere dthe invitation, its detectives were at his gate.
The former Aviation minister was at the EFF office Monday as required, he was interrogated for few hours in presence of his attorneys, and was granted adminsitrative bail, with conditions.
Pointblanknews.com sources hinted that he was required to provide two sureties who must be Directors with a Federal ministry, agency or parastatal.
According to our source ” They said he should provide two sureties with properties anywhere in Abuja, but we were happy they did not insist it has to be Maitama or Asokoro. But it came a little late, we had prepared for the worst, but happy the conditions are not too stringent”
However Pointblanknews.com gathered that Fani-kayode’s allies could not get the sureties tidied up as at close of business on Monday.
Said our source ” The bail conditions appear to be light but we just hope all those who have promised to appear at the EFCC office to tidy the bail up will show up, because so many people are afraid of this government and its vindictiveness, So as it stands he would spend the night in their custody”
Pointblanknews.com also learnt that fani-Kayode was prepared for the worst so had packed his bags before the the issue of bail came up.
