Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), weekend, pelted Bauchi State
Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar’s convoy with sachet water.
The IDPs who are camped in Mararaba Lima Katagum also rejected relief
materials presented to them by the governor.
Pointblanknews checks showed that the crowd of IDPs pelted the governor’s
convoy with sachet water when he went personally to donate the relief
materials to the camp.
They predicated their anger on the death of 30 pensioners, who died while
waiting for government’s verification exercise.
They also demanded that the governor pay without delay pensioners and
workers in the state whom they described as their “beneficiaries”.
Spokesman or the IDPs in Lima Katagum, Abdullahi Yusuf Ishaku, said “we
know that we are suffering here in Bauchi because we left our comfort zone
due to incessant crisis but we have met the worst of life here in Bauchi.
“Our brothers that we are looking up to the state government has refused
to pay them their monthly salaries, we are now a big burden to them”.
According to him “we have rejected his donations of food items which was
meant to mock us instead we asked him to go and settle his differences
with the people”.
