The duo of Sen. Uche Ekwunife and Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah on Monday described their victories at the Anambra Election Petitions Tribunal as a vindication of the mandate given to them by the electorates of Anambra South and Anambra Central District.
Ekwunife said the mandate given to her by the people of Anambra Central District was stolen in 2015 by Sen Victor Umeh of APGA and by the two victories at the general election and the tribunal she has been vindicated that she won the the two elections.
“I urge Chief Victor Umeh to allow peace to reign in Anambra Central District and let our people enjoy the dividence of effective representation.
“I defeated him in 2015 and he got the victory through the back door and today he has been defeated again.
Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah described his victory as a vindication that he was actually elected by the people of Anambra South Senatoral District.
“By this judgement it has gone to prove that the seven local government areas in the District gave me the mandate to represent them and be rest assured that they will get the best of representation
Reacting to the judgement, Mr Dennis Ezika representing the lead Counsel to Chris Uba, Mr George Igbokwe, SAN, Counsel told journalists that they would be heading to the Court of Appeal to challenge the tribunal’s judgement.
“We do not agree with the reasoning of the tribunal with respect to the evidence brought before it. We believe the petitioner tendered tenable evidence and there are no contradictions.
“I can assure you that we will contest the judgment of the tribunal at the Court of Appeal to protest the reasoning of the tribunal, ” he said.
Umeh said he would appeal the tribunal judgement, while thanking the district constituency for their supports so far.
“Great People! Thank you very much for your Faith and indomitable Spirit! We shall prayerfully approach the Court Of Appeal after reviewing the Judgment!
“It was like this on 9th October, 2015. Today is another 9th! Let us not despair. God bless. Senator Dr Victor Umeh, OFR,” he said.
