OGUN TRANSPORT MASTER PLAN WILL BOOST INDUSTRIALISATION – SAYS COMMISSIONER

The first Ogun State Transportation Master Plan, when ready, will boost
the industrial drive of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, open
up more investments, as well as consolidate the State’s position as the
most industrialised in Nigeria.The Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo
Longe stated this in Abeokuta during an interview with journalists on
the inauguration of the Steering Committee on the State Transportation
Master Plan by Governor Dapo Abiodun, saying despite economic
challenges, the government was committed to developing the
transportation sector in order to meet the rapid industrial growth,
thereby enhancing the socio-economic development of the State.

Mrs. Longe, who serves as one of the Committee members, added that the
Committee would ensure strict compliance with the State’s transportation
laws, reduce accident’s rate, as well as ensure all other means of
transportation previously under-utilized were given adequate attention,
thereby creating more job opportunities for the unemployed.

She noted that the government would not relent at improving the State’s
infrastructure, stating that, “since the onset of this administration,
about 90 kilometers of roads have either been completed or undergoing
construction, while over 60 kilometers of roads have been
rehabilitated”.

The Commissioner stated that the present administration was engaging the
Federal Government on the construction of different federal roads,
including roads within the Agbara axis, to aid the industrial
development in the area, pointing out that government had also
harmonized taxes to address allegations of multiple taxations, as well
as prosecution of illegal tax collectors through its mobile courts.

Mrs. Longe said the State government’s effort at adequately equipping
the security forces through the Security Trust Fund had improved the
security of lives and property in the State, lauding the private sector
for supporting the Prince Abiodun’s administration.
