CORRUPTION ABYSS AND THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY

by Our Reporter

For so long a time now Nigeria has welcomed and August visitor (Corruption) and has refused to let it go after the festivities of the period for which it came for. It has rather become a part of our culture and has been even constitutionalized in communion with other illegalities of the sham (constitution) produced and foisted on the Nigerian populace under the guise of democratized country. Its apostles the corrupt political elites have consciously and conscientiously decided not to let go of this disastrous visitor and even recently we hear amongst its apostles there is a ‘god Father of corruption’ such a country.
This very malfeasance by political elites in the country has brought the Nigerian economy to a standstill and at most officially a recessional economy. Everything about the Nigerian economy in disarray and her numerous economic policies all anti-developmental as the needed intellectuals needed to steer the country out of her recessional voyage are lacking in every sectors were necessary. As many indications point to a self-made economic recession, it is with great chagrin that Nigerians on a day-day basis watch in agony amidst penury the intrigues associated with the mysterious lack of funds needed to steer the country out of her dis-comfort on a recessional voyage. First we see the purchase of vehicles worth billions of naira by the legislative arm of government who commit such malfeasance under the guise of performing oversight functions to suck the country dry of her common wealth. The afore mentioned arm not only to be stoned alone are, the high and mighty execu-thieves arm as nomenclaturized by those with the gift of a fourth-sight, if not can one readily explain the political brouhaha currently on going between the legislatives and the executive towards the approval of a $29.96 billion loan needed and summed under the deceit of infrastructural development or the emptiness of other financial documents submitted to the National Assembly. Hmm what shenanigan tactics employed by our elites to plunder and rob us dry of our common wealth!!!Through whatever means they always succeed in obfuscating the truth about the state of the federations account and getting away with political malfeasance.
It even becomes more worrisome when the lay patriots of the country can unmistakably point accusing fingers at the presidency for the current bane and sufferings ongoing in the country and also as the main architects of the made in Nigeria economic recession from which Nigerians are dying innocently owing from non-payment of workers salary , pensions funds and most worrisomely the divert of public funds meant for the purchase of food and relief materials for the comfort of internally displaced person in the North-East area of the country. All these amongst other inhuman acts make me wonder if our leaders have finally sold their consciences for personal profits or aggrandizement.
All must have its own share of the blame for the current economic recession in the country but our leaders are to be blamed the most. Even the judiciary has so far being fingered in a plethora of accusations bordering on corruption and disregards for due process and now the question to whom do the ordinary populace turn to in cry of anguish, seeking justice against the highly placed in the society for violation of their unalienable rights. It’s crystal clear also that, the judicial arm of government joined these corrupt convoy and have so thus far, deviated in the pursuit of their institutional functions which are Justice for the oppressed and punishment for the oppressor ,and can now be seen as trying to protect its own image and are fully engaging in partisan politics. For the record everything in Nigeria is business as usual and so will advise all well-meaning intellectuals not to play the roles of the whistle blowers any more, stop crying over spilt milk because the problem with Nigeria is with her leadership and the culture of leadership recycling and unless good and purposeful leaders mount the mantle of leadership we may end up attaining the sobriquet of prophets without a message cause it becomes a discordant tune to the ears of many. I for certain will gladly if called upon to proffer solution to the Nigerian problem do that but on a contract basis and would for certain good consciously not dine with men whose acts in one way or the other lead to the unjust death of another and if the corrupt political elites have their way then the Think tanks should have their Pay! Because for every time spent on pondering and wailing on the Nigerian problem, one gets nothing but sickness I rather spend such time acquiring knowledge and impacting on the younger generations for they hold the key to a brighter future.
