In Aba, ABIA State we started with the worst sites before visiting the projects embarked upon by Governor Ikpeazu. Aba is a city that has been long forgotten by previous administrations. We talked to residents who told us they were impressed with what the governor has done so far. They prayed that he continued.
The city is in a very bad shape, the people are suffering. The entrance is so unwelcoming. Dirts laden roads and blocked drainages.
Area boys scrambling to extort from motorists, children hawking and a fuzzy cloud of noise pollution in every corner. It is a nightmare of a city yet it is a city renowned for commerce and creative ingenuity.
This is what we saw as we approached the heart of the city. Port Harcourt road in Aba is a death trap, totally turned into a dungeon. So we had to take through Osisioma junction.
In the heart of the city we breathed the air of relief. Along Aba/Owerri road, there were drainages undergoing construction. The workers were still on site.
One resident told us about what the governor was doing. So we requested for specific projects and he began mentioning, we stopped him when he got to number five of the projects. We have heard enough, we needed to see for ourselves.
Our team lead, Comrade Phils put a call across to the SA New Media, Newman Ubani. We refused to alert him of our presence in Aba until we had spoken to residents and visited some bad areas. He had told us the governor was waiting to receive us but we ignored it. It was a priority in our objectives to hear from the Aba people first.
Haven done that, it was also time to visit the good sites. We needed to see what the governor was doing to ameliorate the decaying city. Newman would be our guide….
We will bring you more details soon….
