Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attacks on three Churches in Kaduna and Zaria where over 50 worshippers mostly women and Children were killed or injured.

The attacks had, for the first time, triggered reprisals from Christian youths who pulled Muslims out of vehicles and attacked them.

The sect in a statement by its spokesman, Abu Qaqa insisted that “Christians must all convert to Islam in order to have peace”.

The group said the jihad is to avenge the past killings of Muslims and desecration of Mosques in Zonkwa, Yelwan Shendam, Tafawa Balewa.

According to the extremist group which has made attacks on churches a regular occurrence every Sunday, the alleged conversion of Mosques into drinking spots and brothels, by Christians would be consistently resisted.

The statement said: “Today Almighty Allah has given us victory against Christian Churches in Kaduna and Zaria which led to the deaths of many Christians and security operatives.”

The group also claimed that Allah has tasked all Muslims in Quran chapter 9 verse 29 to launch an attack against Jews and Christians who refused to believe in him and his messenger, Prophet Mohammed.

The statement added” residents of Maiduguri and environs, are suffering because they did not support the sect when  federal government crack teams  waged war against them in 2009, accordingly, also urged the residents of Kano to re-consider their stand to avoid similar woes.”

The Sect noted that the attacks against Christian Women and Children also meant a retaliation for the abuse of Muslim women and Children by federal troops.
