Fall-Out Of Edo Election: Oghiadomhe May Emerge PDP Leader

by Our Reporter

Following the colossal defeat of the People Democratic Party, PDP, in the concluded Governorship election in Edo State, Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe may become the PDP leader in the state.

The Chief of Staff is from Edo North, same Senatorial zone with Governor Oshiomhole.

Oghiadhome, a former Deputy Governor, successfully delivered his polling unit to the PDP, but lost the Senatorial zone to the ACN, emerging as the only PDP bigwig who maintained a grip of his unit in all elections.

Chief Tony Anenih, popularly called “Mr. Fix It” within the PDP circle, lost woefully. He had boasted earlier to deliver not just his ward but the State to the PDP.

The Former PDP BOT Chairman, was trashed in his home base Uzenema-Arue ,Uromi, in Esan North East Local Government Area by the ACN. ACN won with 3,480 votes as against PDP’s 1004.

PDP Governorship Candidate, Maj.-Gen. Charles Airhiavbere(RTD) was also trashed roundly in his home base Ekewan in Oredo Local Government Area by the ACN.

A source in Benin, the Edo State Capital told Pointblanknews.com that as it stands, Chief Anenih, a serial loser in elections in Edo State, has lost his leadership position to Ogiadomhe who is considered within the PDP in Edo State as more charismatic, dynamic and likeable personality

“I think we have seen the last of Anenih. He has been defeated yet again in his ward. What this means is that he has lost his leadership position with the PDP in Edo and even at the national level to a more dynamic and charismatic leader like Ogiadomhe who has continued to win his ward.”

The PDP had relied heavily on Chief Anenih to deliver the ACN controlled state to the PDP but again, “Mr. Fix It” failed.

Although, Chief Anenih has been largely credited for the many reconciliations and successes of the PDP at the National level.
