The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, quizzed a former governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson over alleged misappropriation of funds meant for his state.
Spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Dickson was at the commission but he did not go into details.
But an official of the commission, who didn’t want his name in print, told pointblanknews.com that Dickson arrived at the headquarters of the commission at about 10:50am.
According to the official, the former governor, who currently represents Bayelsa West Senatorial District, was invited by the commission.
“Yes, he was invited. He has been answering some questions pertaining to some funds in Bayelsa State,” the official said.
The source said the anti-graft agency was acting on the series of petitions against the lawmaker who governed the state between 2012 and 2020.
The allegations against Dickson bordered on some assets “acquired with public funds and abuse of office”.
Our correspondent reports that the lawmaker was still being interrogated by operatives of the anti-graft agency as at when this report was filed.
