How Sabiu Yusuf Blackmailed Sahara Energy Over Multi-Billion NNPC Deals

by Our Reporter
Fresh facts have emerged how President Mohammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant and Private Secretary, Sabiu Yusuf aka Tunde threatened to expose all the shady oil deals the late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari had with Sahara Energy.
Industry sources told Pointblanknews.com that over time, Sabiu  kept records and even wire-tapped conversations Kyari had with Sahara Energy. With Kyari now dead, Sabiu has allegedly threatened  Sahara Energy that he would present all present them all to President Buhari.

Presidency sources hinted that aside Sahara Energy, Sabiu ‘Tunde’, had been secretly recording Kyari’s business and political conversations with business and political leaders. “He is now  blackmailing them with the recordings,” the source told Pointblanknews.com

Inside sources told Pointblanknews.com that Sahara Energy had been under  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) watchlist over offshore processing agreements entered into during the era of former Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Dieziani Alison  Madueke.

The sources told Pointblanknews.com that in May 2016, officials of the EFCC raided the Lagos and Abuja offices of Sahara Energy carting away several computers and documentary evidence of the deals.

Pointblanknews.com was reliably informed that it took the efforts of Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari to halt the probe of Sahara Energy, a company believed to have skimmed over $400million from oil deals during the Allison Madueke era.

Thereafter, continued the source, Daura and the now deceased Kyari became allies of Sahara Energy, helping the company win the 2017 Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Crude Oil term contract alongside 17 others.

Pointblanknews.com investigations revealed that following Abba Kyari’s death, Sahara Energy owners have been ill at ease on how to cover up all the deals they entered with the late Chief of Staff, whilst staving off  EFCC investigations on their dealings with Dieziani.

Sahara Energy reportedly approached Mohammed, Mamman Daura’s son, to intervene and prevent the revocation of her OML11, should a new Chief of Staff who is certain to become the NNPC chairman, emerge. Until his death, the late Kyari chaired the NNPC board and played major roles in the activities of the State-run oil company.

In a leaked memo to the NNPC Group Managing Director dated March 1, 2019, with reference number SH/COS/24/A/8540, the late Kyari directed the nation’s apex oil concern through its upstream subsidiary Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) to take over the entire operations of the crisis-ridden Oil Mining Lease (OML) 11 not later than April 30, 2019, from Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC.

However, the move to enlist Daura’s son’s help failed as Sahara Energy felt things were moving too slowly for comfort.

With Daura’s son’s help slow in coming, Pointblanknews.com also gathered,  Sahara Energy switched loyalty and began dealing with Sabiu, using him to push files and block EFCC investigations which began in 2016.

As part of the deal, Sahara Energy allegedly pays Sabiu ‘Tunde’ several millions of Dollars and makes available their private jet to fly him anywhere he wants to go to.

It was one of Sahara Energy jets that conveyed Sabiu to and from Lagos during the lockdown sparking off the recent shooting scandal which rocked the Presidential Villa.

After Kyari’s death, it was reliably gathered, Sabiu Yusuf ‘Tunde’, made an attempt to force his way into the late Chief of Staff’s office to retrieve some documents, but was frustrated by certain Villa security operatives.

“Chief among the documents the Presidential Assistant sought to retrieve from the late Kyari’s office were those containing NNPC and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) deals in which he had considerable interest”, declared the official.
