A Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, has ordered the remand of Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife; Oriyomi Hamzat, proprietor of Agidigbo FM; and Fasasi Abdulahi, Principal of Bashorun Islamic High School, at the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan.
The remand is effective pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.
The trio was arraigned on Tuesday before Chief Magistrate Court 1, Iyaganku, facing four charges: conspiracy, causing death by negligence, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities.
Mrs. Ogunkanmi stated, “Silekunola, Hamzat, and Abdulahi are charged with conspiracy, causing death by negligence, negligent acts causing harm, and failing to provide adequate security and medical facilities.”
The courtroom witnessed a gathering of Hamzat’s supporters, who assembled outside amid heavy police security to express their solidarity during the proceedings.
As the legal process continues, the next steps will depend on the DPP’s advice regarding the charges against the accused.
