The gains made by Nigeria in crude oil export in recent weeks is about to
wiped out as the Niger Delta Avengers have blown up five major oil
pipelines.
According to the militant group on its Twitter handle, the attacks were
carried out between late Saturday and the early hours of Sunday.
The affected pipelines belong to the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation, NNPC, Chevron Oil and the Nigeria Petroleum Development
Corporation major crude trunk line close to Batan flow station in Delta
State.
Also, the Militants claimed that the NNPC crude oil trunk line blown up
was the one that supplies the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company.
The group claimed: “At 9:15pm on Friday the @NDAvengers blow up Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Crude Oil Trunk Line to Warri
Refinery.
“At 1:15am on Sunday @NDAvengers blow up two major Chevron crude oil trunk
lines close to Abiteye flow station in Delta state.
“ALL FIVE OPERATIONS WAS CARRIED OUT BY @NDAvengers STRIKE TEAM. WELL DONE
SOLDIERS.
“At 1:15am on Sunday @NDAvengers blow up two major Chevron Oil Wells. WELL
7 and WELL 8 close to Abiteye flow station in Delta state,” the Avengers
tweeted.
There has been a lull in the damaging activities of the militants in the
area which has pushed up Nigeria’s crude export to 1.9 million barrels per
day but with the latest development, there are fears that output might
slip down the curve again.
