Osinbajo Accused Of Appointing Kinsmen To Aso Rock Church Positions

The State House Chapel Abuja is currently engrossed in subtle leadership crisis as some members of the Chapel are accusing Vice President Yemi Osinbajo of appointing his kinsmen to take over top positions at the Chapel, shutting out other clergies and worshipers from other parts of the country.
Our correspondents gathered that? some worshipers are protesting the appointment of all signatories to the church fund from the Yoruba ethnic group.
?
A top presidency source told our correspondent on condition of anonymity that Prof Osinbajo despite protests from some key members of the Chapel went ahead to pick the signatories to the Church account from one ethnic group insisting that all leaders in the church must come from the Yoruba ethnic group.
The anonymous source who would not want to be identified disclosed that many members of the church are already openly expressing their displeasure with what they call tribalism in the church, a development they say is different from the norm.

According to him, church members are not happy that Osinbajo who is apolitical head of the church has made it possible for two other Yorubaleaders to emerge as signatories to the church fund, leaving out thechapel administrator who is from Borno state.

He said: “under former President Goodluck Jonathan, during his time as both Vice President and
Preident, , the chaplain was from south east while signatories to thechapel account were drawn from different parts of the country”.

The source added that “Jonathan himself had nothing to do with church funds. What do you have
now?  Osinbajo a yoruba man now give approvals and the two other signatories are both Yoruba people. Are they saying that other Nigerians cannot be part of the church administration?

The source argued further “even the pastor from Borno state is still there as the chapel administrator and he is excluded from management of the chapel funds. This is in deed corruption. They cant be fighting corruption in government and yet condone it in the chapel in the seat of power?”

Our findings revealed that two of the three signatories to the Chapel account are Yoruba while the third is from the Southeast geo-political zone.
But a Presidency source who spoke to Frontiersnews, on the condition of anonymity said the story about appointment “is untrue and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the VP”.
