The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki on Thursday requested the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to investigate a petition filed against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, Mr. Danladi Umar.

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator from Ebonyi State, Obinna Ogba had submitted the petition bordering on alleged corruption and abuse of office by the CCT Chairman.

The ethics committee is expected to submit its report to the Upper Chamber in two weeks.

It could be recalled that Saraki is standing trial in the CCT on alleged 13 count charge bothering on false declaration of assets when he was governor of Kwara state from 2007 to 2013

It  could also be recalled that a civil society organisation, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), on Tuesday last week petitioned the Senate over N10 million bribery scam involving the Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Mr. Danladi Umar.

The group also said it had sent the petition to the House of Representatives, promising to also petition President Muhammadu Buhari over the matter.
