Rising from an emergency meeting on Monday, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF),  said they would engage a consultant to be actively involved in Presidential Probe into the helicopter crash that killed late Kaduna State Governor, Patrick Yakowa and former National Security Adviser (NSA), Andrew Azazi .

Barely hours after the helicopter crash President Goodluck Jonathan had directed for an investigation to be conducted into the cause of the crash.

But in a communique read by their chairman and Governor of Rivers States, Chibuike Amaechi, the forum challenged President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that the investigation is open and transparent.

The governors, after a meeting which stretched for four hours, moved to Kaduna State to commiserate with the family of the late governor and people of Kaduna State.

Amaechi said “Members support the directive of the president for a thorough investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the helicopter crash and calls for transparency and openness in the process.”

“Forum further resolved to engage a consultant to participate in the investigation process or serve as an observer.

He reiterated the forum’s condolence to theose affected thus: “Forum condoles the President, the Vice President, the Government and the People of Bayelsa and Kaduna States. Forum also condoles the families of Governor Patrick Yakowa, General Andrew Azazi their aides, Dauda Tsoho and Mohammed Kama; and the pilots, Murtala Daba and Adeyemi Sowole, who died on Saturday’s ill-fated helicopter crash.”
