A former Executive Director of the Edo State Rapid Response Agency, Abraham Jimawo, has obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the Etsako Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election.
Jimawo is seeking the House of Representatives ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The United Kingdom-based philanthropist, politician and businessman arrived at the APC national secretariat in Wuse II, Abuja, on Saturday, accompanied by friends, family members and political associates.
A statement signed by the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Jimawo Project 2027 Organisation, Comrade Kenneth Oshiogwemoh, said, “The Jimawo Project 2027 Organisation is pleased to formally announce to the good people of Etsako Federal Constituency and the general public that our principal, Hon Abraham Jimawo has today, Saturday, May 2, 2026, obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the House of Representatives seat for Etsako Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
“The forms were collected at the APC National Headquarters, Buhari House, 40 Blantyre Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja, in line with the timetable and guidelines released by the National Working Committee for the 2027 General Elections.”
Speaking shortly after obtaining the forms, Jimawo expressed appreciation to God, party leaders and supporters in his constituency.
“This is a bold step in our collective journey to deliver effective, accessible, and responsive representation to Etsako Federal Constituency. I remain committed to the progressive ideals of our party, the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, and the visionary leadership of our Leader, Distinguished Senator Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole,” he said.
In an exclusive  interview with Sunday PUNCH, Jimawo pledged to abide by party rules and urged fellow aspirants to focus on issue-based campaigns.
“I am in the race to show that politics remains an instrument of public good. I am out to represent the good people of Etsako Federal Constituency and give them a voice in the scheme of things. I call on aspirants to the various offices to focus on issues. They should tell the people what they have in store for them.
“We have a party that has proven its capacity to win elections across all levels of goverment and what we are out to do is to continue to win for the APC and our people,” he said.
On what informed his decision to run, Jimawo pointed to his exposure abroad and a desire to improve governance at home.
“I have lived in the United Kingdom for years and I have been privileged to witness how things work in other climes. I want to represent my people, make them to see the beauty of effective representation. Let’s pick the ticket first and go for the election. What I will assure our people is that the time has come for us to look before we leap,” he added.
Jimawo’s bid for the Etsako Federal Constituency seat has been building over time, driven by his involvement in grassroots development and party activities. Known for philanthropic interventions in health, education and community security, he has maintained ties with his constituency despite residing in the United Kingdom. His frequent visits to his Constituency is seen as a factor likely to work in his favour.
He previously served as the Chairman of the UK-Ireland Support Group of the Senator Monday Okpebholo Governorship Campaign Organisation and has participated in various APC mobilisation efforts, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora.
Supporters say his aspiration is rooted in a push for more responsive representation and constituency-focused legislation. His campaign is expected to centre on governance reforms, youth development and leveraging global best practices to improve public service delivery in Etsako Federal Constituency.
