A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state which parades itself as Abia APC Integrity Group, has berated the immediate past interim national vice chairman, South East of the party, Dr. Nyerere Anyim and a former PDP chieftain who defected to the APC, Chief Ikechi Emenike over their activities which has factionalized the party in the state.
At the end of its meeting in Aba, the group led by the former national financial secretary of the defunct ACN, Barr. Ndionyenma Nwankwo stated that the protracted power tussle between Anyim and Emenike has continued to threaten the stability of the party as well as reduced the chances of taking over power from the ruling PDP in the state.
The group further predicted that APC would be doomed in the state if necessary actions are not taken to dissolve the two parallel executives selfishly constituted without congresses by two governorship aspirants; Anyim and Emenike.
” While the APC Integrity Group which consists prominent members of the legacy parties that laid foundation for our great party has openly advocated for a neutral and democratically elected executives at all levels expected to carry everyone along and ultimately drive APC towards taking over governance in Abia following disagreements the marred the earlier scheduled exercise in our state, other factions led by Dr. Nyerere Anyim and Chief Ikechi Emenike have at the detriment of the stability and growth of the party continued to parade non- existent state executives.
“While Nyerere clutches on Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, his co- traveller in the ‘Operation Kill Abia APC’ Chief Emenike has Mr. Fabian Okoronkwo on his shoulders. This unfortunate development clearly proves that both factional chairmen are already compromised and cannot be fair to other aspirants and party members except their masters. It is against this backdrop that we reaffirm our earlier stand for a neutral executive that will carry everyone along and further drive our party to victory in Abia”, the group added.
The group also alleged that Anyim single handedly imposed one Mrs. Helen Ojukwu as the Deputy National Woman Leader, the only national position zoned to Abia against the wishes of the delegates.
Other leaders of the ‘Abia APC Integrity Group’ at the meeting include governorship candidate of the defunct ANPP, Arc. Anagha Ndukwo Anagha; defunct CPC governorship candidate, Barr. Nath Ikeocha; former state secretary of APGA, Mr. Okezie Ogbonna.
