The Minister of State for FCT, Ms Olajumoke Akinjide, has called on Christian women to continue to promote peace and unity in the country.

Akinjide made the appeal on Friday in Abuja when the national executive committee of the women’s wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) paid her a courtesy visit.

She urged the women to pray for Muslim faithful who are observing the Ramadan.

“I want us as Christians to pray for the church and also pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters who are also observing the Holy month of Ramada, that God in his infinite mercy will unite us as it is written in Psalm 133 verse 1,’’ she said.

Earlier, the acting National Chairperson of WOWICAN, Mrs Leah Solomon, said the objectives of the association were to tackle contending issues arising from “our socio-political life as a nation’’.

The objectives were also to guide youths to have self realisation and eradicate cultism, child abuse, prostitution and drug addiction as well as care for orphans, among others.

She appealed for land for the association to build a befitting secretariat.
