Amaechi is Pushing Ogoni People to War Against Police

by Our Reporter

The Rivers state chapter of the PDP has accused Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of pushing the Ogoni people to war against the police.

In a statement by Special Adviser, Media to the state PDP chairman, Jerry Needam, made available to Pointblanknews.com, the party said media reports credited to the Rivers state governor insisting that in spite of security challenges in Bori, Ogoni, occasioned by the aborted All Progressives Congress, APC, rally on Sunday January 19, 2014, that he will dare the Police and the people, and lead a rally in Bori Saturday, January 25, 2014 is obviously pushing the Ogoni people to war.

The PDP while reacting to Amaechis position, argued that rather than threatening to go ahead to hold a rally in Bori, and provoke the people to another round of crisis he should talk and for once act like a governor by seeking ways to bring about peace in the area and the State, before he proceeds on rally to Bori or any other part of the state.

The party insists the crises in the state are created and masterminded by the governor.

According to the PDP, Amaechi having lost control of the state, the only thing proper in the circumstance to do is for him to resign, and give peace a chance, rather than continue to incite and provoke the people.

We also wish to note that Governor Rotimi Amaechi has refused to visit the innocent Ogoni youths wounded during the APC rally in Bori and those whose conditions are critical three days after the incident.

We believe the youths were shot by armed thugs hired by the chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Mr. Bariledum Greg Miiedam, on the instructions of Governor Rotimi Amaechi who has refused to visit the innocent youths who are lying critical in hospital; but prefers to lead another rally in Bori even when the state of the youths is still dicey and tension in the area is still very high. This underscores Amaechis disdain for the lives of Ogoni people, preferring to coerce them into APC, with many unfulfilled promises since 2007.

The PDP urges the governor to allow peace to reign in Ogoni and Rivers State and shelve his plan rally, considering the tension in the area and critical state of innocent youths that were shot by area thugs hired by the Chairman of Khana Council.
