The All Progressives Congress has won the chairmanship election in Kuje Area Council, with its candidate, Danjuma Shekwolo, declared winner after polling 17,269 votes.
The official declaration was made by the Returning Officer, Prof. Nkiruka Odoh of the University of Abuja, who announced that Shekwolo scored the highest number of valid votes cast and satisfied all constitutional requirements to be returned elected.
“Having met the legal requirements and scored the highest number of votes, Danjuma Shekwolo is hereby declared duly elected and returned as Chairman of Kuje Area Council,” Odoh stated while announcing the final tally.
The contest, keenly observed by party agents, electoral officials, and security personnel, recorded voter turnout across polling units within the council area, with results collated at the designated collation centre before the final announcement.
With the Kuje declaration, the results of chairmanship elections across the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory have now been concluded, completing the electoral cycle for the grassroots tier of administration in the nation’s capital.
Further details, including breakdown of votes by ward and reactions from other political parties, are expected as stakeholders respond to the outcome
