A young barber in his mid-20s lost his life to the guns of militants at Kawu Junction in Taurani area of Kano, northern Nigeria when gun men on a motor bike stormed his barbing Salon, killing him and injuring two others.
Though the identity of the young man is yet to be ascertained, some people in the area who spoke to Pointblanknews.com said he could be of Igbo origin.
It is not yet clear whether the attackers are of the Islamic Boko Haram sect.
However, police authorities disclosed that serial killers have penetrated the ancient commercial city.
According to a source from the Bompai police headquaerters in Kano, the police already have tangible information on their operation, “and we have been making arrest,” added the source.
Eyewitness account said the gun men came on a motor-bike, made straight to a hair-cut saloon, near the junction and killed the young man.
The incident sent panic within the area as residents scamper for safety.
The gunmen were said to have fled the scene after the attack and before security personnel could arrive the scene of the incident.
The remains of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary of Murtala Mohammed Specialist hospital,
The injured victims were taken to undisclosed hospital for treatment.
As at the time of this report police have cordoned off the place in search of the suspects, while the commissioner of police, Ibrahim Idris said he has a list of suspected serial killers to be declared wanted.
He said the police will track down the attackers through the efforts of residents in the area.
