The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan`Iya has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP following his resignation from the ruling party in the state.
The resignation came hours before the mega rally of the All Progressives Congress, APC expected to hold in Sokoto.
It has not been formally indicated if he is expected to show up at the rally that is expected to be used by the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Aliyu Wamakko to flex muscle with his successor, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
The deputy governor in his letter of resignation dated 8th February 2023 and addressed to his Ward Chairman in Kware, Kware Local Government said he was notifying the Party leadership of his resignation.
The letter titled, “Letter of Withdrawal from the Peoples Democratic Party” read thus:
“I write to notify you of the withdrawal of my membership from the Peoples Democratic P’arty (PDP) with effect from 8th February 2023.
“I appreciate the opportunities given to me, which made me serve in various capacities under the PDP.
“Accept my best regards.”
Pointblanknews.com reports that Dan`Iya emerged as the deputy governor in 2018 following the resignation of his predecessor following the defection of Governor Aminu Tambuwal from the All Progressives Congress, APC to the PDP and his decision to dump the PDP would be seen as the continuing flex of muscle between Wamakko and Tambuwal.
