Delta Government Calls For Collaboration Between Interventionist Agencies And Lgs

by Our Reporter

The Delta Government has called for collaboration between interventionist agencies and the local government councils in the state on projects execution.

Mr Felix Omel-Melenu, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Delta Government on NDDC matters in charge of Delta North, made the call on Wednesday in Agbor in Delta, while inspecting projects being executed by NDDC.

Omel-Melenu urged contractors handling projects for interventionist agencies to always inform local government councils of the projects they were executing.

He said that it was necessary for the local government councils to be aware of projects being executed by interventionist agencies and the location of the projects in the area.

The senior special assistant said that NDDC had a lot of on-going projects in Delta North and the inspection was to ascertain the level of completion of the projects.

Earlier the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) of the Council, Mr Godfrey Okonta, complained that the council was not aware of project sites and projects being executed by NDDC.

Okonta said that the council was not informed about the projects going on in the area and appealed for such to be corrected even if it was for information purposes.

He lauded Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan for his commitment to the development of Delta, which prompted the projects inspection by the government.

At the palace of the Dein of Agbor where he also visited, the SSA told the Dein that he was in Agbor to inspect NDDC projects in the area.

He commended the people of the kingdom for protecting government projects and ensuring peace in the community.

He told the Dein, HRM Obi Keagborkuzi, that there were lots of NDDC projects being executed in different communities in the state.

Omel-Melenu said that Uduaghan was desirous that the projects were completed on time and to specification.

In his response, the Dein commended the state government for monitoring jobs contracts awarded in the state. (NAN)
