Delta To Revoke Sections Of Ughelli-Asaba Road Dualization Project

Delta State Government is set to  revoke two sections of the Ughelli-Kwale-Asaba Road dualisation project.

Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah who made the disclosure  in Asaba, gave the  affected parts of the 149 kilometre road as Section A, handled by Wokson Nig. Limited and Section  awarded to ULO Construction Company.

Joined at the briefing by his counterpart on Special Duties (Special Infrastructure), Mrs. Orezi Esievo,

Ogeah  expressed government’s disappointment at “the slow pace and poor quality of work by the two contractors.”

According to him,  government would  not tolerate substandard jobs by contractors. He said Exco has ratified the establishment of four new polytechnics to be sited in Abigborodo, Sapele, Bomadi and Aboh.

Giving insight,Commissioner for Special Duties (speacial infrastructure) Mrs Orezi Esievo said the process of building permanent and befitting structures for the four new polytechnics had commenced.

She said her office had completed 14 out of 60 school projects across the state, stressing that the Uduaghan administration was committed to ensuring that riverine communities also benefit from the siting of capital projects.

In separate remarks, two commissioners from Ijaw speaking areas of the state, Mr. Newworld Safugha of the Directorate of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Mr. Timi Tonye of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPASDEC), thanked the government for “taking tertiary institutions to riverine areas.”

They however enjoined riverine people to take maximum opportunity of the polytechnics to be sited in their areas to develop themselves.
