Few hours after he unveiled his running mate for next month’s gubernatorial election, Labour Party’s candidate Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has assured of priority attention for muslim faithful in Ekiti State.

Bamidele gave the assurances yesterday during a jumat service at the Ado Ekiti Central Mosque where he also read out his party manifesto to hundreds of worshippers.

He also used the event which he attended with his running mate Alhaja Maryam Oguntade to indicate his recognition of the large population of muslims in the state.

He said the choice of Oguntade was as a result of deep consultations with various interests and stakeholders in Ekiti.

He added that Labour Party could not have done otherwise since it is a party for the masses regardless of religion, sex and background.

He however urged the muslim ummal in Ekiti to vote for him and his running mate, and promised to make their welfare a priority when they get to office.

Chief Imam of the state, Alhaji Jamiu  Bello Kewulere who delivered a message at the service admonished the two of them to have fear of God in all their political dealings.

He thanked Bamidele for heeding his initial call to select a muslim, a decision he described as politically prudent, urging his followers across Ekiti to back the Bamidele/Oguntade ticket.
