The Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP) says there will be power outage at the Chevron Gas Plant at Escravos, from Friday, April 5 to Sunday, April 7.
This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by Mrs Awele Okigbo, the Head Media and Communications of the task force.
The statement said the outage would be experienced because the chevron Gas Plant would be shut down to facilitate the supply of additional gas.
It said that the shut down, would also enable engineers to carry out repairs on the transmission line in Lagos.
The repairs on the plant, the statement said, would further address the “sequential outages” being experienced in Lagos.
The statement quoted the Chairman of the PTFP, Mr Beks Dagogo-Jack, as saying that the outage would take about 800 megawatts out of service during the three day period.
The statement also said that there would be power outage at the Shell Afam VI, which contributes about 200 megawatts to the country’s power supply.
It said that such scheduled maintenance were normal to ensure that power supply was sustained in the long term, and asked for the understanding of Nigerians during the period.
The statement gave assurance that the government was determined to transform the power sector. (NAN)
