Gov Ahmed Congratulates Oshiomhole

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has described the election of the Action Congress of Nigeria candidate in the Edo State gubernatorial election, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as another milestone in the collective efforts to strengthen democratic culture in the country.

Ahmed, in a congratulatory message issued in Ilorin by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahaab Oba, noted that it was very heart warming that despite the anxieties that preceded it, the election was largely peaceful.

This, Ahmed noted, “was an indication of the salient fact that we can get any national venture right if we show the required commitment and resolve.”

The governor commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the deployment of security personnel for the maintenance of peace in Edo State during the build-up to the election.

This, he added, was in line with the President’s pledge that the Federal Government would stop at nothing in ensuring that there was peace in the state.

Ahmed also commended the political class in Edo State for the display of maturity during the election, which he said should be emulated by other states where elections would hold soon.

The governor urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to draw from the lessons it has learnt from the Edo State election to deepen its impressive records in the conduct of subsequent elections in the country.
