by Our Reporter

Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has warned marketers of petroleum products in the state to desist from exploiting the people through unwholesome practices.

Dickson gave the warning while inaugurating the state Petroleum Products Monitoring Task Force in Yenagoa on Monday.

The governor condemned the activities of some petroleum products marketers, who diverted product supplies.

He said government was aware that marketers diverted,  increased prices and adulterated the petroleum products.

He said the government had received complaints on such activities and stressed   that efforts would be made to ensure that the people accessed quality petroleum products at the approved prices.

Dickson enjoined members of the task force not to compromise in the discharge of their duties to meet the expectations of government and the people.

He expressed optimism that the inauguration of the task force would check increases in the prices of the products and other unscrupulous activities of  marketers.

He assured the task force of government’s support to enable it to function effectively.

The Chairman of the task force, Mr. Benjamin Abrakasa, assured the governor  that the team  would work hard to justify the confidence reposed in its members.
