Abia governor, Chief TA Orji says he stands by the position of the governor’s forum on the establishment of a state police in the country.

Answering questions from journalists on his return to the state after his annual vacation abroad, the governor said the issue of a state police is a collective decision by the governor’s forum which according to him has not been reversed.

He however said that he will abide by any decision reached by his party the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the matter as a loyal party man.

He said he was surprised to hear while outside the country that his Northern colleagues met and said they do not support the idea of state police after a decision had been reached by the forum earlier.

The governor said he used his leave to discuss investment opportunities with foreign investors, disclosing that an ultra modern international hospital will soon be built at Obuaku city by an investor from the south East.

He said that a certificate of occupancy had already been issued to the investor, expecting that the project will take off in a matter of weeks.

The governor who reacted to the advertisement of the positions of the accountant general of the state and that of the chairman of board of internal revenue maintained that no tenure is permanent stressing that even as governor his tenure ends in 2015.

He stated that his emphasis is on internally generated revenue which will sustain the projects being embarked upon by his government especially now that allocation from the federation account is dwindling and warned that those in charge of galvanizing the forces that will raise the state’s IGR must be up and doing as he will not tolerate laxity from them.

According to him the move was to further rejuvenate and reengineer the system to work very well and give Abia the desired result, pointing out that Abia is bound to make about N2 billion monthly from internally generated revenue.

The Abia state chief executive used the forum to debunk the rumour that he was swindled of huge sums of money while trying to purchase a ship saying that such rumour is a figment of the imagination of the peddlers.” if you buy a ship free of charge for me I would reject it.im not a businessman. You need to know the type of governor you have”, he said.

According to him, people he said still suffer from hallucination of the past, stressing that he is not in the state to acquire the whole world.

He promised Abians harvest of projects until he leaves office in 2015.
