Fresh dimension has emerged in the Hezbollah Armoury discovered on No. 3 Gaya Road Bompai Kano late last month as a Kano-based business man and the chairman of Kano-based 5-Star hotel, Tahir Guest Palace, Mr. Tahir Faddalah has slammed a N10 billion suit against the Leadership Newspapers for libelous publication.
The Leadership Newspaper on its publication of May 31, 2013 had allegedly implicated Mmr. Tahir Faddalah in the Hezbollah armoury saga, giving the impression that the prominent hotelier was arrested by security agencies over the case involving three Lebanese.
Tahir who is also the Chairman of the Lebanese Community in Kano has insisted that the said publication titled “Owners of Amingo Stores and Tahir Hotels arrested was a calculated attempt to defame his character, smear his image and the reputation of his business.
In a writ of summons and statement of claim filed by, Barrister Ahmed Raji [SAN], Counsel to plaintiff, Tahir and his company, Tahir Guest Palace are asking for N5 billion each from the Newspaper Company and one Bala El- Nafaty mentioned in the suit as co-defendant.
The plaintiff is also seeking for additional N100, 000 to cover costs of litigation.
According to the plaintiff insisted that the said publication was designed to defame his character and tarnish the reputation of his businesses, noting that, “it was a malicious publication.†The plaintiffs also sought an injunction from the court to restrain the defendants, their agents from further publishing defamatory materials against them.
