Kaduna State Govt Approves N6bn To Digitalise State Television

by Our Reporter

The Kaduna State Government has approved the sum of N6 billion for the digitalisation of the Kaduna State Television (KSTV), according to Alhaji Sa’idu Adamu, the Commissioner for Information.

Adamu announced this during a visit to Queen FM in Zaria on Friday.

The commissioner said that 15 workers of the station would be sent to China for training on the use of the new equipment.

He said the move was in line with the 2015 global deadline for the digitalisation of all radio and television stations.

According to him, work will commence in the next six months while test transmission is expected to start by the first quarter of 2013.

Adamu said that the government also planned to improve transmission to cover the entire state by building sub-stations in Zaria and Kafanchan.

He said that booster stations would be established in Birnin Gwari, Lere and Sanga Local Government Areas and that more workers would be employed.

He, however, said there would be no automatic appointment of any artist.

The commissioner urged the artists wishing to be retained to apply, assuring that their qualification and experience would play an important role in enabling them to secure employment. (NAN)
