Kogi Govt begins renovation of schools — Deputy Gov

by Our Reporter

Kogi Deputy Gov. Yomi Awoniyi says the renovation of schools used as flood relief camps has commenced.

A statement issued in Lokoja on Sunday by Mr Michael Abu, Awoniyi’s Press Scretary, said the deputy governor inspected two of such schools in Koton- Karfe and Akpaka town in Kogi Local Government.

The statement said the renovation became imperative because most facilities at the schools became over stretched and damaged while the camp lasted.

According to the statement, Awoniyi expressed delight over the pace and quality of work done so far at the two schools he visited.

He said the project would cover all the affected Local Government Areas in the state.

He described the 2012 flood that ravaged the state as the worst in history, but gave an assurance that efforts were being made to overcome its impact.

He noted that funds accruing to the state would be used to remediate the impact of the disaster.
