The Kogi Government has set up an emergency response committee to work out strategies to deal with security challenges in the state, according to a statement issued on Monday in Lokoja.
The committee is headed by the Deputy Governor, Mr Yomi Awoniyi.
The statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr Mike Abu, stated that the committee observed that the state was not insulated from attacks and needed to be protected.
It noted that with more than 17,000 vehicles being driven through the state daily in addition to the Federal Capital Territory and nine other states sharing borders with it, the state should take the issue of security with serious concern.
In a related development, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kabba branch, has appealed to the governor to deploy experts to comb the town for possible arms factories.
In the statement signed by the branch Secretary, Pastor Samson Ayodele, it called on government to put a check on the influx of aliens and suspected criminals in the town. (NAN)
