The Kwara Government is committed to reducing youth unemployment through skills acquisition and vocational training, Alhaji Saka Onimago, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, has said.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ilorin that government would encourage youths to embrace its vocational training scheme.
The commissioner said government was concerned about the growing trend of youth unemployment and was working assiduously to tackle the menace.
“We are going to support the youths, students, graduates and others who desire to acquire skills and be self- reliant.
“The policy thrust of the present administration is to empower the teeming youths in the state to acquire modern skills in the vocation of their choice,’’ he said.
He said government had entered into partnership with proprietors of vocational training centres in the state to achieve the objective.
Onimago gave an assurance that government would provide an enabling environment to encourage to boost skills acquisition. (NAN)
