Some soldiers attached to the Joint Task Foce patrol team and two suicide bombers suspected to be Boko Haram footsoldiers were today killed in an explosion that targeted a military patrol vehicle in Damaturu, Yobe State.
The Police Commissioner in Yobe State, Patrick Egbuniwe confirmed the incident on phone today from Damaturu, the state capital.
According to him, ” the Joint Task Force (JTF) men were on patrol when they suspected a particular vehicle to be conveying some dangerous weapons, they tried to stop the Vehicle before the occupants who are suspected Boko Haram members ignited an explosive which Killed two of the suspects and yet to ascertained number soldiers.”.
The Police Chief however said calm has returned to the state capital ” as people are going about their usual business. We have also beefed up security in and around the state to ensure security of lives and properties”
