The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has bursted multiple drug dens in Abuja, arresting 132 suspects while recovering 220 kilograms of illicit substances.
The operation, which lasted two weeks from April 11 to April 25, 2026, was carried out by the agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) in collaboration with the FCT Strategic Command. The coordinated raids followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance targeting identified drug hotspots across the Federal Capital Territory.
Areas affected by the raids include Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis, among others.
According to the agency, a wide range of illicit substances were recovered during the operations. These include 214.79 kilograms of skunk (a strain of cannabis), 5.524 kilograms of Diazepam, 2.352 kilograms of Exol, 1.119 kilograms of Tramadol, as well as smaller quantities of Mogadon, cocaine, Rohypnol, methamphetamine, and ecstasy. Six bottles of codeine syrup were also seized.
Despite encountering resistance from suspected traffickers in parts of Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market axis, NDLEA operatives successfully subdued the groups without any casualties, effectively disrupting their distribution networks.
Briefing the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa, the Director of Operations and General Investigation, Ahmed Sule Ningi, commended the efforts of personnel involved in the exercise.
He said, “I commend the resilience, coordination, and professionalism of all participating officers, men and women. There is a need for sustained operational pressure to consolidate the gains recorded during the exercise.”
Responding, Marwa praised the operatives for their dedication and reiterated the agency’s commitment to sustaining the offensive against drug cartels.
He said, “I hail the officers, men and women of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, the FCT Strategic Command, and other formations that participated in the operation for their commitment to cleaning up the capital city and its environs. The operational model used for this exercise should be replicated across other high-risk urban centres to sustain the pressure on drug cartels and effectively suppress both demand and supply of illicit substances nationwide.”
