Nigeria Determined To Eradicate Poliomyelitis – VP Sambo

The Vice President, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo has expressed the determination of government to ensure that the dreaded poliomyelitis disease is eradicated in Nigeria.

He was speaking when the World President of Rotary Club International, Mr. Sakuji Tanaka paid him a courtesy call in his office. The Vice President who received the Rotarians on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan expressed delight with the efforts made by the Club towards ensuring the total eradication of the disease in Nigeria.

The Vice President commended the Club for this and other support services they render which includes water supply, construction of schools, e.t.c. for the benefit of mankind. He further stated that, ‘the issue of polio will be treated on a continuous basis as all tiers of government shall continue to pursue action that will ensure the eradication of polio in Nigeria he enthused’.

Earlier, Mr. Tanaka expressed delight at being received by the Vice President and extended his sincere appreciation to President Jonathan for constituting a task force to deal with polio in Nigeria.

Amongst those present during the visit were, Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu and principal staff of the Office of the Vice President.
