A 46-year-old woman, Grace Etiefon has been arrested by officials of
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra Command for
alleged human trafficking.

Etiefon who hails from Akwa Ibom state was apprehended by men of the

30-year old to Lagos for onward movement to Libya on Monday, Sept. 30.

Mr David Bille, Anambra State Commandant of NSCDC confirmed the incident
to this journalist early hours of Thursday in Awka.

Bille said the suspect was arrested at a Lagos-bound motor park at
Unizik Junction, Awka, on said the date.

Bille said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was been
taken to Libya where she would be used for prostitution.

The victim from Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government of Anambra State,
said she was a petty trader at Unizik Junction, before the suspect came
and offered to assist her to Libya for a better life.

Bille used the opportunity to warn residents of the area against
relationship with people of dubious motives.

The NSCDC Commadant, however, stated that the Corps would not hesitate
in the clamp down of syndicates of human trafficking and other crimes in
the state.

He said the suspect would be handed over to National Agency for the
Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for more investigations
and prosecution, adding that Etiefon’s action contravened Human Rights
Act.

He, however, called on the general public to avail the Corps of useful
