by Our Reporter

Prophet Timothy Obadare, the head of Christ Apostolic Church, also known as World Soul-winning Evangelical Ministry (WOSEM), has died at the age of 83 in Akure.

Joseph Obadare, one of the deceased’s sons, who confirmed the report to newsmen in Akure, said his father died on Thursday at his No. 63 Adilewa Street residence in Oyemekun, Akure.

He, however, said further information on his death and burial would be made available when the eldest son was available.

“I thank God for his (the late Obadare) life. However, any other thing that needs to be discussed on this issue will be discussed by his eldest son,”  Joseph said.

Meanwhile, Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has described the death of the renowned evangelist as an example of the marching on of a saint.

The governor’s message is contained in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday in Akure by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Eni Akinsola.

Mimiko, in the statement, said Obadare’s life, ministry and influence could be likened to those of saints.

He described Obadare as “rare and uncommon’’.

“In his way of life, concern for the lost soul and uplifting of the name of God, Obadare stood tall among the prophets of his generation and broke barriers.

“He was consistent and controlled, aggressive yet un-obstructive, and had no pretensions about his faith and God.

“Prophet Obadare made the life of the poor and the down-trodden his and helped many to re-discover their connections to God.

“His strident cries against sin and warnings to those departing from what is right and just will be sorely missed,’’ Mimiko said.

Rev. Nelson Fadoju, the Ondo State Deputy Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), described  Obadare as a dedicated member of the state chapter since its inception.

He said Obadare would be missed by the association and the nation.

“We will surely miss him, as CAN’s Ondo State chapter has lost an important member. Even though he was old, the news of his death came to us as a shock,’’ Fadoju said.(NAN)
