Former presidential campaign spokesman and actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, has accused the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) of manipulating its primary elections, extorting aspirants, and selling party tickets to the highest bidders.
Okonkwo, who is now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the allegations in a post on his X account, where he claimed that the party’s primary election process lacked transparency and credibility.
According to him, “Aspirants are being extorted for tickets. Results are being announced before primaries and tickets are sold to the highest bidders.”
He further alleged that outcomes of the party’s primaries were predetermined, raising concerns about the integrity of the process.
The former spokesperson also criticised the party’s internal leadership structure, claiming that decision-making had become concentrated in the hands of a few individuals.
“The party headquarters has been reduced to Senator Seriake Dickson’s living room,” he alleged, while expressing disapproval of the conduct of some party leaders.
Okonkwo went on to describe the NDC as lacking legitimacy, arguing that recent events had exposed what he characterised as the true nature of its operations.
“This is the real structure of criminality. The fraud called NDC has finally exposed itself,” he wrote.
His comments add to the growing debate surrounding the NDC’s internal processes as political parties continue to position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
As of the time of filing this report, the NDC had not responded to the allegations. Efforts to obtain the party’s reaction were unsuccessful, and no official statement had been issued.
