Reinstate Justice Salami First, Imo AG Tells Adoke

by Our Reporter

Imo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Soronnadi Njoku has faulted the position of the Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke on the sacked Imo council officials who were recently reinstated by the Appeal Court.

Speaking to journalists in Owerri,Njoku  urged the Minister to lead by example through reinstating the suspended president of the Appeal Court, Justice Ayo Salami before meddling in the case affecting the council officials in the state.

He lamented that the state government is yet to be served with the court judgment and wondered  how Adoke who is not even a party to the suit, got served.

Recall that the Minister has called on the Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to allow the 27 council chairmen and their councilors to resume work without further delay.

Adoke maintained that the directive was in line with the Federal Government’s position on the matter, describing the Okorocha’s action as illegal.

Adoke further directed the state government and all relevant agencies to abide by the appellate court decision.

Pointblanknews.com sources hint that the council bosses are threatening force their way to their offices. It was further gathered that some of the council chairmen have in the last one week met with the incumbent Transition Committee Chairman in a bid to take over. The reinstated council chairmen and councilors posit that the governor should comply with judgment before appealing to the Supreme Court. You know this is not possible, they have to wait for the decision of the apex court, an aide to Okorocha who prefered anonymity told Pointblanknews.

Sources say the situation would have degenerated but for the presence of security operatives in the 27 council secretariats in the state.

In the meantime, crisis looms as the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) is set to  battle with the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) as the latter insist that Okorocha must comply with the order.
