As the National Assembly laments the slow implementation of the 2012 budget, a member of the House Committee on Constituency Outreach, Hon. Chinenye Ike has decried the non award of contracts for constituency projects in Abia State.

Addressing newsmen in Umuahia, Ike, who was on a visit to some of the proposed project sites in Abia state, said it is regrettable that as at the end of September 2012, no contract has been awarded for the various constituency projects allocated to the state.

He disclosed that no fund was given to any member of the House of Representatives for the projects, but they were only empowered to state the location of the projects.

Ike who represents Isiala Ngwa North/ South Federal Constituency stated that members of the House from Abia State  attracted  projects to their constituencies in the area of electricity, water, poverty alleviation, health and youth empowerment; but regrets that nothing has been done, even as the 2012 fiscal year ends on December.

He further lamented the deplorable state of the Enugu “ Port Harcourt Expressway, which he said, has been on the federal budget for three years now, without being awarded for rehabilitation.
