River Sole Administrator shuns Reps Panel

The River State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas on Thursday shunned the invitation of the House of Representatives Committee overseeing the state’s administration under the emergency rule.
The Chairman of the Committee and House Leader, Prof Julius Ihonvbere who held a closed door meeting with members of the panel decline to address reporters after an interface that lasted for about 50 minutes.
Journalists who waited patiently at the entrance to Committee Room 301 were left disappointed after Ihonvbere and his committee members failed to address them.
Some of the Members who attended the meeting include the Deputy Chief Whip, Ali Isah; the Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, Idris Wase; the Chairman, House Committee on Federal Capital Territory, Muktar Betara and the Chairman, House Committee on Finance, Abiodun Faleke.
Others were the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources, Sada Soli;  the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Finance, Iduma Igariwey; and the Chairman, House Committee on Health Services, Patrick Umoh.
Although no official reason was given for the absence of Admiral Ibas, a source privy to the activities of the committee told The PUNCH that the Sole Administrator will appear before the Committee on Friday, April 2025.
“The Committee will now meet with the Sole Administrator tomorrow (Friday) at 10AM inside the National Assembly Complex,” he said, without giving out additional details.
